CAM_Casoria Contemporary Art Museum Profile/Introduction[..] to the Museum (Museum profile/Introduction to the Museum) CAM_Casoria Contemporary Art Museum of Naples is a permanent contemporary art centre who promote contemporary art since 2004. The museum is constantly increasing its permanent collection with artworks of worldwide artists: from painting to installation art, video art and performance art, in a very special venue to display. There is a permanent art gallery and a big garden as a detached room for monumental sculptures and installation artworks. Starting from the general idea that a public art collection reflects the art and the cultural environment of contemporary age, the first purpose of CAM_Casoria is taking a great interest in young international artists. In fact, the museum essential purpose is being a cultural reference for people, a dynamic spot where people are stimulated to pass each other ideas, opinions, where artists are involved in setting up their exhibition. Our aim is to create an “ideal city” for arts where very different things live together in harmony, expressing diversity as a treasure. According to Antonio Manfredi’s view, Casoria Contemporary Art Museum gets near to how a museum should be, and what a museum should do: to produce culture, research and educational support, to make creativity happens, and to make it being an hermeneutical experience of reality, not less than something complex as contemporary age requests. We are not prejudiced whatsoever against any race or ethnic group. We want to make people involved in contemporary art and to make them sensitive to the revolution of communication which is going on all over the world. We organize workshops where artists can explain their art language directly to visitors, so that contemporary art becomes clear and comprehensible to people. Permanent collection information (The Collection/Permanent collection) More than 700 amongst paintings, sculptures, new media and installations artworks are now part of the CAM_Casoria permanent collection, realised by international artists over the last 20 years; we aim to enlarge it more and more at any new exhibition. From exhibition to exhibition over the last 2 years we have made up one of the best collection in Italy of Neapolitan art from the Second World War up to now, as well as about oriental art, and especially a great selection of videos of new media artists coming from roughly everywere. Moreover, a very special section is dedicated to international fashion. Altogether, women and men are offered the possibility to exhibit on an equal basis. Visitors can have access to the municipal garden that we have transformed in Park of Sculptures and were big sculpture and installation artwork are permanently exposed.
